 Our team

Steve Drummond and Nicola Steen worked together at Cantor Fitzgerald’s green arm, CO2e.com. Steve was one of the founders and became CEO and Nicola headed up business development, reporting directly to Steve. Sheena Clark is a highly-respected financial and regulatory market data expert who is applying her insights to sustainable markets. All three are on Linkedin and biographies are below.

Nicola Steen - founder

http://uk.linkedin.com/in/forrealreturns

Nicola is a forward-thinker, who applies what are sometimes theoretical concepts to real situations to create positive, sustainable change. She first worked on greenhouse gas emissions when assisting Dr Michael Grubb at the Energy and Environmental Programme at Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs (RIIA), in London in 1989, having just spent two years teaching in Sudan. Inspired by Michael’s work, realising capping and trading emissions would meet an environmental goal and at the same time provide resources for Africa and other developing countries. She stayed at the RIIA until 1994, when she joined the Association of Electricity Producers (AEP) representing the UK’s electricity generating companies and instigating cross-industry discussions on the design and implementation of the UK’s emissions trading scheme. She also was key in the design of the UK’s Renewables Obligation.

From 2001, she spent eight years leading business development for Cantor Fitzgerald’s award-winning green arm, CO2e.com (later rebranded to CantorCO2e). As Senior Vice President she initiated the company’s presence in India and provided the business plan that led to it establishing three offices there. She worked on voluntary carbon markets from their inception, closing deals first in 2002, and was responsible for the company’s work related to UK renewable energy and power, helping place several hundred megawatt of renewable generation and working in the early biomass for co-firing markets.

She set up her own companies to work further on sustainable, carbon reducing projects. In Africa, her focus has included enabling women to have the choice of cleaner, less polluting and less labour-intensive ways of cooking. In the UK through links and relationships to key market players, she has helped renewable energy plant owners secure good prices and contracts for their power. She co-founded Green BEERS, a well-considered networking group for the British Energy, Environment, Renewables and Sustainability sectors.  After helping her father with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, she returned to the markets, was Head of Partnerships at Redshaw Advisors helping establish their Plannet Zero team.

Now ‘back to the future’ working with trusted colleagues committed to change.  Clients include a UK-based, game-changing renewable energy technology and several African projects applying carbon finance.  She recently founded Pop-up COP, to enable engagement with COP30 from the UK.

Nicola studied first French and German; after being at RIIA, she gained a Masters in Economics at Birkbeck College, University of London.

Steve Drummond - co-founder
https://www.linkedin.com/in/stevedrummond/

Steve Drummond’s career has spanned a range of roles in energy, sustainability and finance. Steve started his career as a Chartered Engineer in the nuclear and conventional power sector, before helping to restructure the UK electricity industry and spearhead the new Independent Power Plant (IPP)  revolution in China and the far-East. Steve then gained a partnership at PwC where he created and led a non-recourse finance structuring and syndication business and was the PwC Corporate Finance global lead for climate change.

Since then Steve has launched a series of entrepreneurial businesses.
